Subject: Worn Out Shag Bag
Content: I had one of those shag bags with an aluminum cylinder that holds 70+/- balls finally wear out on me. It had some tears in it, and the zipper was pretty much shot. I was getting ready to toss it untill I discovered I could still use it with out the bag. All I did was remove the bag, and the two large metal rings. I now have a "shag stick" that will carry 14 balls. I also drilled a hole through the top part of the cylinder so that I could put a 1/4" bolt, and wing nut through it.. This bolt is to keep the balls in the cylinder when I am not using the it. I leave the bolt out when practicing. Couple of things I have found out. This new shag stick (with only 14 balls) is much lighter to lug around. Also with only 14 balls to practice with, I have more time to move around the practice area to practice different shots. Also a lot folks want to know where I bought such a gizmo. A draw back will be in the warmer months when the aluminum handle will get pretty hot due to the sun hitting it. A little foam will cure that issue. So if you have a shag bag that is getting close to it's last "shag" trip, just skin it, and use the inside metal cylinder/handle parts.  FHs
