Hunting for a Putter

I can’t seem to go to any store without seeing Christmas decorations. Would you believe that I even heard Christmas carols playing on the store speaker at Costco last week? Well as annoying as it is (considering it’s just now Halloween), it’s got me thinking……

I’m thinking that at the top of my Christmas wish list this year there won’t be silver, gold or even diamonds. Instead I’m thinking carbon steel or titanium in the form of a new putter. I’ve been a real good girl so far this year and I’m hoping Santa will come thru. The problem is I’m not sure which putter to ask for.

I went into my local golf store and let the girly girl get the best of me. I went straight for the “pretty” ones. You would have thought I was shopping for a Prada or LV handbag. I made a fool of myself and felt totally out of my element overwhelmed by the hundreds of putters lined up side by side on that fake grass green.

I fell in love with the LIMITED EDITION CATALINA CLASSIC, but hear that Santa might be on a budget this year and even I haven’t been that good.

I know putting is all feel and it’s difficult to give and receive recommendations on which putter to buy but I’m just looking for a starting point. If anyone has a favorite putter or their eye on a newly released putter, please let me know. At least then I can narrow the field and possibly find the perfect Christmas gift.

I realize your blog was a while ago, but I have been using a putter by the Fischer Company in Ca. I am very happy with it. The great thing about this putter is it has a special hosel that can be bent by you depending on your stance. I have some back problems every once in a while and 1 day I may need it upright, the next day maybe a little flatter. I just simply stand on the head and put pressure on the shaft one way or another and Presto it is square to the putting surface. The second cool thing is they have 3-4 different faces to put on the putter depending on the speed of greens you play. Just tell them when you order it as well as a length on the shaft. They were more then happy to make the putter for my body at NO extra charge and the putter is very reasonable. I could not afford to see Scotty Cameron in La Jolla, Ca so this was the next best thing. I think I paid $125 or $135 for it. My putting has improved alot since with much confidence. Happy Putting !

I hope you get your putter! I love mine even though it's about an inch too long. I had 30 putts yesterday...the putter is important!

Try a Belly Putter!

Shopping for putters is so much fun, I have 6 or 7. For several years, my favorite was from Louisville golf. It is one of their "Earthwoods" mallet style putter. The head is a beautiful wood with a insert on the face.(They have a website where you can check out their merchandise). I tried a belly putter( which is more of a chest putter for me). Never got use to it. I have a blade putter made by Carbite which treated me pretty good (but it's been replaced in my bag).  I have a putter made by Affinity called the V-Rod which I like. The shaft comes down and is more center of the putter face which I was hoping would reduce twist when putting. The putter that now resides in my bag is made by "Master Grip" (the golf glove people). It is their model "415CR". The look is non-traditional, it's a bit on the heavy side but seems easy to line up and putt smoothly with. And like you said, it's mostly feel' but I think you need to like the feel and the look to make it all come together. (In my pictures, I have one where most of my putters are lined up in front of my bags) Good luck hunting.
