How many seasons of playing golf did it take you to get your first hole-in-one? I have been playing three seasons, and still none. However, I feel it is getting closer. I can sense it.

Tenth,

Keep visualizing the ball landing about 6 feet before the hole, taking 1 hop, then rolling towards the cup and falling in. It will happen.

I think I shot my load too fast with the hole in one situation. It was my 5th year playing and I had 3 hole in ones in a matter of 9 months. At that time I worked for a golf course and was playing just about everyday so I did have more opportunities than most folks. . 1 year after that I had another. That was about in 1993. I have been dry since. About twice a year I threaten the stick with either hitting the flag or seeing the ball lipout.

My first one came when I was in the 11th grade.  Then I had to wait 12 years for the 2nd one.  After the 2nd one then a flood gate opened and I had 4 of them in a years time.  Giving me a total of 5.  I'm retired from playing golf now so I don't I'l have any more.

I've played over 15 seasons and have yet to hole one on a par three. I've had some that looked really good in the air to end up short or long. A few stopping less than a foot for (even for me)  an easy tap-in. I would love to hole one, but I would rather see my game and handicap improve so my playing partners can start paying me and buying the rounds.

Great post, FrogHairs! I'm picturing you in the dim light peering into the cup and then at a Tin Cup type course in a dust storm in Texas, alone and thankful that your second HIO is still right around the next corner, to be celebrated over drinks and the story retold in countless ways.

I had been playing for about 5 years when I was lucky enough to card my first one. I think my hdcp was still off the charts at that time. It was a 135 yard par 3, under lights no less. The lighting was so bad we could not see where shots landed. When we walked up to the hole, everyone could see their balls except me. I jokenly told a guy on the green to check the hole. Sure enough there was my ball in the bottom of the cup. I bought beverages that night.

I golfed on a course last week in Amarillo, (Arrow Head) while driving back to Vegas. I missed an ace by less than inch. It was on a 145 yard par 3. I had to hit into a 35+ mph wind. I used my 3 metal for the conditions, and settled for a birdie. I was golfing alone, so it was probably best I was short to the cup...LOL

I say most, if not all HIOs are on the lucky side. I read some where that there are quite a few PGA pros who do not have any aces to their credit. You'd think as much as these guys play, most of them would have multiple HIOs. The percentage on the LPGA circuit is even worse for rounds played. The right swing, the right impact, and the right conditions are all you can hope for.   FHs
