Why does the rain have to ruin my Golf?

So I have been looking forward to golfing friday.  A short week at work, cool temps, and a free trip to the golf course.  But tonight thursday the night before I want to go hit the links I am informed by my wife that the course is near flood levels.  Not that it is underwater and we need to build a boat but, the course may be too wet tomorro to play.

So what can we talk about then I already talked about the fun you can have with your dad and the great feeling of fear after hitting a stranger.  I guess today I can introduce you to the arsenal in my bag.  I started out with a cheap set that I purchased mostly because I didn't know if I would enjoy playing or not.

After a few years I decided to move up in the golfing world and pick up a better set.  I wasn't able to afford a nice Callaway set which is my dream set.  But instead I found a decent company that I have enjoyed so far.

Tour Edge is the club set I currently use I didn't get the tour set but a decent set for a still considered newbie.  I guess the biggest question is do clubs really make the man?  I know with any hobby you will spend the amount of money that you want to put into it.  if you look at people that are heavy into trap shooting they will spend ungodly money into their shotgun that would make many question why?  But golfers do the same thing.  I tell my wife that I would love to get a great set of Callaway clubs and she responds with that would cost what 3or 4 hundred dollars.  Uh sweetie that might get me a driver look more in the middle to 2 thousand.

So what do you think about golf clubs?  Do you look down on the guy that's name brand you never heard of?  or is it all the same to an extent just who wants to spend more money for better quality?

'Course I ain't no scratch golfer - after being analyzed by my instructor and others, I just buy off the shelf regular flex clubs. This Indian just adjusts himself around the arrows. Hopefully, my swing is evolving, so I'm not really trying to fit my clubs to anything static. So far, I'd say the place to spend money on name brand stuff would be the irons and the five wood.

I go along with FH. A person can purchase knock-offs or off brands for a lot less cost as long as they are fitted. I am only 5'4", but have a fairly fast swing speed. Length, flex, and so on really make a difference. (Also if I had to buy brand name clubs to play the game, I would either be divorcedor not playing the game I love.)

Nothing wrong with Tour Edge products. Their JMax Ironwoods are in my bag, as well as their HL 3W. I always have good feeling inside when I score better than the guy with the higher priced clubs, that he can't play well with. Now that is not to say the higher priced clubs are not any good. We have all heard the saying that "it's the indian, and not the arrow" that is responsible for bad shots. I am not so sure that is correct verbiage to be used. My belief is that unless the indian has been properly fitted for his clubs, he can't be heald responsible for his errant ball flights. I suppode there ins a fine line there, since he is responsible for buying clubs that may not fit his swing. But if he went into store, and the store's salesman throws him a on a monitor, and based on his swing speed decides he is this, or that flex, then the store itself is at fault. My point is the price of a person's clubs is of little value unless those clubs have been properly fitted to that person's physical make up, and swing. Things like grip size, loft/lie angles, club swing weight, club overall weight, and club length (on a per club basis) should all be matched to player so that he/she can play their best golf.  Very few retail/internet outlets can offer this type of fitting, let alone afford to employ a qualified employee who knows how to properly fit clubs.
