Since September is just about over, I figured it is time to do the year end maintenance/cleaning on my golf gear. I golf year around, but this is kind of my restart time for the 2009 season. I emptied all the pockets on my golf bag. Found some energy bars that were probably 10, or 11 months old. Kind of crunchy, but not to bad as long as I don’t chew them on the side my crowns are on. Found an old score card with a score of 95 on it. Must have just pick that up as “litter” while on my home course. There was no name on it, but darned if the guy kept the same stats as I do on it. Even kept a short game hdcp on it. Small world maybe? I got rid of all those ‘old balls” that I seem to accumulate. I think I now know why they are short range balls at my home course, as I am one of many. (do the math) I also found $4.86 in change in one of the pockets. That’s almost enough for a pitcher of MGD tonight at Lone Star during the MNF telecast, and dinner. Broke down and replaced what was left my golf towel with a newer model. Changed the batteries in my GPS, and laser range finders. Don’t know why I change the GPS batteries since I don’t use it anymore. I can’t bring myself to fork over that yearly renewal fee, and the laser works just as good. I also figured it was time to add my Bar-B-Que mittens and rain gear to one of the empty pockets. Those items will come in handy during those cold windy mornings that will be showing up soon enough. Especially in the DFW (Saginaw) area, which is where I will be in a few weeks. Anyone in that part of Texas who wants play, just email me. I will there for about 6 weeks. After the bag maintenance, I cleaned my clubfaces, and grips. Can’t see the actual shaft through the grip material on any of my clubs yet, so they are probably still good for another year. I don’t carry a ball retriever, so I don’t need to do anything there. I opened up my umbrella, and wiped it down. After that, I moved on to my Clic-Gear trolley. Greased the axels, rotated the tires, checked the tire pressures, and adjusted the parking break. Found another energy bar in the glove compartment, which I promptly fed to the neighbor’s dog. Hopefully now he will stop barking late into the night. Yeah, I am good to go for 2009. FHs
