Well it has been 6 weeks since I really hit a ball. It was fantastic to get out on a course again. Although the wind was blowing at a steady 15-20mph it was still great. The back was very sore after I had finished but that was expected from being out soo long with a back injury. I still managed to pull out a 76 out of my hat thank you to a great short game. swinging easier helped a little bit with keeping it in play. I had a few toe looping hooks from just falling off the shot I am sure from being blown all over the place. From trying to keep the ball low today I did learn a different way of keeping the ball in control. And after I started to loosen up and get comfortable and noticed I did not loose too much distance from using this move. I will experiment more with it. The High Desert Amatuer Championships is coming up soon and I still have an invitation to it from a previous placement so I am excited an looking forward to playing with the young guns again and showing them it is not how far you hit it but how accurate.

Glad to find out you are back out there prowling the fairways.  i would go nuts with a 6 week lay off. Plus i would be no where near a 76 after that much time off. Maybe an 96...lol. You are quite right about accuracy, and good short game being a priority over uncontrolled distance. I played last week with a couple long knockers. They were both pretty good, and long off the tee, but their short games were not where they wanted it to be. My game was better by 4 strokes.  I think you once said you did not live too far from Furnance Creek in Death Valley. Perhaps when I get back from Texas in December we can play 18 or 36? It will still be in the 80s there that time of year. Good luck, and play well in your HDAC tourney. FHs
