Just a quick little question . What do you think would be the effect on their game if the PGA pros did not have a caddy, and had to  lug around their own equipment for 72 holes , over a 4 day period? I'm not talking about the Champion's Tour. Just the tours the youngsters play on.

IMHO Tiger would most likely still dominate, while shooting some what higher scores. Folks like  John Daly would definately fall by the wayside, making room for the more healthy players. Those with just a bit of a back problem would also have to find other work.  What would Phil Mickleson's game be like on Sunday about the 15th hole? A lighter bag could mean less clubs, which might mean more focused shot making, and/or course management.

Let's say they could use a trolley. Could you envision VJ Singh crusing down the fairway pushing his clic gear? Or better yet how about one of those motorized three wheelers. I could just see Sabbatini going balistic in the parking lot because he grab the TV remote by mistake.  FHs

I would think that yes some scores would be higher due to lugging a bag. As far as fewer clubs because of smaller bads I don't really think so. I have a Titleist "Sunday" bag with a 6" neck and I have had 15 clubs in there with the VJ Speed Stick when I practice and I have no problems with pulling sticks out or carrying it. I do walk most of the time except for tournaments that require a cart. Plus the bag has 3 good size pockets on it for all my accessories, balls, pens, tees, markers, etc. It would be very interesting to watch. I would agree with you too about some players would either have to get into a gym to get in better shape or would go back to being a club pro. I think you would hear about more injuries also from strain in the back.

They'd just get used to it...lighter bags, fewer clubs etc. They stand around so much anyway, I don't think it would be a big deal.

Well think about it, when they all first started....high school, college etc.  Who carried their bags??  They did!  No caddies were allowed.  They all played well back then, right?  In order to make it to the big leagues.
