I had a blog titled" AAAAHHHH" which I talked about a weighted club I have been using and found that if I do it too much it really throws off my tempo and swing producing duck hooks for a while. I do use a tool endorsed by VJ Singh called the speed stick. I use it at the range for about 15 swings before I start to hit balls. I have found that it really keeps my swing plane in check and I consistantly hit the driver well. It is not too heavy and I think this is a factor in why I have not had the same problems as I do with the weighted club. I can use the "speed stick" for an alignment tool as well on the range. NOT THE COURSE, that would be illegal. You can put it behind your back to stretch with it too.

Has anyone out there bought this tool and are there any different ways you have used it to help your game. I am very interested in your thoughts and comments. I have used it for about a year now and would classify it as a quality training aid.

Probably why you're scratch and I'm not: I've been avoiding such devices.

I'm lucky, I have easy access to playing at least a few holes every day.

And even the driving range, it's great when the rain is coming down sideways.

But, I don't see how hitting off the mats really has much to do with real golf, other than the physical exercise of swinging, so I just using it for problem solving.

Thanks for your comment on the speed stick. I've always wondered about it. I used a single weight in my gym( 5lbs) for the left side(coming through the ball) and it has also helped. I only do about 12 reps at the beginning because for me, I wasn't use to using my left arm in the swing.

onthegreen,

my pleasure, this is what 19th hole is all about. Not only is it good to work a repetitive muscle factor and work in a good swing plane, but I forgot to mention that it does have the MPH guage on it so you can see your speed and watch it increase as you limber up.

Ron,

Kudos for the post and information!  I will have to look this up, I like the idea of seeing the MPH amongst other things.  I used to use the donut as well....messes things up!
