Evaluating “The Golf Experience” Prior to Purchase

Good golf real estate developers do a lot of careful planning with
regard to amenities prior to starting any new project—and golf is
usually priority one.

Avid
golfers who have the opportunity to play courses in every corner of the
globe, also get to experience more of "The Golf Experience" than some
of their stay-at-home clubber counter-parts.

Never-the-less,
“The Golf Experience” shouldn't be taken lightly when a golf real
estate decision is on the horizon. Take a look at the list below and
assign a score to the courses in the communities you are considering.

• Entrance to the Club: the sense of arrival is the first impression, valet service

• Landscaping: on golf course and other grounds

Clubhouse: extension of members’ homes, gathering, places that
facilitate camaraderie, décor, comfort, amenities, overall atmosphere

• Locker rooms: conveniences, privacy

• Dining rooms: bar, grille room, formal dining—quality and presentation of food an beverages, quality of chef and servers

Golf Course: intimacy of routing, ease of walking, scenery and views,
landscaping, caddies, style & quality of design, playability

Maintenance Practices & Quality of Conditioning: including green
speeds, pace of play, course accessories—tee markers, yardage markers,
benches, etc.

• Practice Facilities: including short game area and putting greens

• Teaching: programs & instructors

• Golf Staff: including golf professionals, locker room attendants, starter

• Customer/Member Service: temperament of staff including club concierge

• Golf Shop: quality and variety of merchandise, including golf balls, clubs and clothing

• Post Round: including bag attendants, shoe room, locker room facilities, 19th hole

• Valet Service: final impression

If
you've narrowed your golf real estate prospects down to a select few,
make your final pass “The Golf Experience” test. You'll be glad you did for years to come.
