Longer is Not Always Better!

07/10/2007 09:12:50 / like playing 36 holes

WOW! I never knew how ugly my golf swing was until I watched it on video...over and over and over again.

Well, there's plenty to critique here. But please, don't tell me I need to shorten my backswing....DUH! I know that....But I would appreciate any tips on how to control that swing. How do I make it stop at parallel? And where did that chicken wing come from? When I swing I feel like I have a nice solid plane most of the time....the video begs to differ!

And I thought listening to an audio recording of yourself was painful....this is a new level of pain.

Take a look at this...

Do you have any tips? Leave a comment and let me know how to fix this awful mess.

On your takeaway, act as if you are handing the club head to someone beside you...straight back, pushing with the heel of your left hand...then just cock your wrists and release into the downswing. Don't worry about the "turn"..I think you've got that part down!

Just a suggestion.

Jim, try using one of those heavy clubs like the momentus.  It would help you feel where you swing his better.  I am 99% sure you wouldn't swing it nearly as long with a 40 oz club.  Try it and let me know. -wb

Jim, given a few lessons I could fix your problems and make you better.  You are very talented to be able to play the golf you do with a swing that is not perfect.  If we ever get together for some lesson time and you dedicate some time after the lesson I'm sure you would see some favorable results.

Jim, thank you for sharing your swing with us.  How were you ever a 8?
