Chipping away...at the constant SELLING

07/15/2008 16:33:42 / like playing 36 holes

I would like to hear more about how everyone's golf is going. I don't come here to buy anything. I will never buy something I've seen on here. That's not what this site is about for me.

It's the off season here in florida, so the golf is cheap...but you have to strike between the raindrops!

The EWGA South Florida Sectional was a good time, and the competition was fierce. The Diplomat was the perftect venue...what a course and what great service.

I'm playing Thurs, Fri, Saturday...all before 7:30 am. Gotta get out while it's SORT OF cool!

Will....you have to play! If I ever get your way, I'd be happy to take a lesson.

Hi Steph.  I agree with you.  There is too many people on this website trying to sell things.  I think it would be great if Jim fromthe 19th hole would step in and not allow it but that remains to be seen.  As for me playing golf I have retired from playing for the most part.  I just teach and run events now.  The last time I played was back in April so I just to play.

Hey ELFS, aren't summer season passes great? I'm paying 25 bucks to play a course this morning that I've never played. Supposed to be nice. Saturday, same thing! Cart fee only. :)

ELFS, I have a hole that plays the same as as that par 4 you described. Although tree are not a problem, this hole presents a narrow fairway with homes on one side. and a water hazard on the other. A driver off the tee was a good play it seemed like, but it caused me a poor second shot more often than not. With the undulating greens I had fits on this hole everytime I played it. So, I changed my strategy. A 5w off the tee, which left me a longer second shot with a 2i. If I missed the green, with it bumps and valleys, I then went my LW wedge and a flop shot. Maximum air time with little roll time solved the green's undulation problem. I shoot par or better this hole most of the time now. Just a thought....FHs

Well, I have about 40 rounds in so far at one of the local courses. I have made the season pass pay fo itself and still have several months of golf left. During the year, I always keep track of how many times I am able to par (and birdie) each hole on the course. There is still 1 hole on this course that I haven't beaten. The hole is 399 yards, par 4 which sounds do-able but the fairway narrows and there is tree trouble on both sides damn near all the way to the green. The few times that I have kept my drive out of trouble, I'll clip the trees and miss the green on the second shot. The green is large and very undulating so when I do have a chip to the green (for my third), it will land and then roll towards and then well past the hole. Oh well, that's golf and I will par this hole soon and prove that this game isn't so hard. I'll just hope that the rest of my round will not play the spoiler.

Yep it's hot here in Fort Lauderdale! Raining every afternoon..88-94. I think our lows dip way down into the mid 80s! I did the same thing last week, I was playing a really good round and then PLONKED a few doubles on the last 3 holes. AND one 8. Eek. I think it's more than snacks and water...I need to remember to drink my ceralyte while I play. I bought one of those weighted clubs and I try to swing it regularly. It helps with stiffness and soreness. Cheers! Here's to the good short game! Good for you!

I am playing in hot weather everyday right now. Even early in the mornings it is still 90*F or better. The other day I played in 114*F weather. Played well for 14 holes, and limped in, out of gas the last four holes. Our monsoon season is upon us right now, and it has been a little cooler, but the humidity has been very high. High humidity does not set well for us "dry heat" folks. As for my game, after having a 4 week lay off due to a hand injury, it is pretty much OK. I break 80 ever so often, and anything over 84 is an off day. Makes little difference what course I play, I score about the same, and my short game keeps me scoring well. While my right hand was healing, I saw John Daly on TV speaking about hitting practice balls with only his left hand. I tried that practice scenario for about 3 weeks to avoid withdrawls. It works. Enjoy your game, and play well. FHs
