Riviera Country Club review

01/31/2008 06:41:00 / can't wait for it to warm up

Yes, THAT Riviera Country Club. I had the chance to play Hogan's Alley a couple years ago, and added a review of it on my blog, complete with lots of pictures. What an experience.

It was nice to see that your caddy actually carried the bags. Ours was a "fore caddy" who just gave advice and cleaned the clubs during the round. His name was Mark Wilson the son of Comedian "Flip" Wilson from back in the 70's

 Dan,

Yeah THAT Riviera. I played there too right before the Nissan Open on a cold early morning. It was beautiful but what a wake up call at sea level. I am used to being at 3000 ft and with going there for 10 years to see the pros play I was dumbfounded to see where my drives would end up. No where near them. We played from where the pros tee it up even from the plateau on the first hole. The Kikuya grass is always a pain. I call it "can kill you" grass. But it was truly a pleasure to play there. I liked it a lot better than Pebble Beach that I find PB over rated for the price. I would like to go back to Riviera soon and do it again now that I have some Playing knowledge there.
